Technology
You’ll notice our office is well equipped with innovative technology designed for safety, comfort and cleanliness. Here is a sample of some things we offer: Cerec 3-D™ [Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics] is a computer-aided design and ceramic tooth restoration system. This revolutionary technology, (also known as CAD/CAM), allows Dr. Farahbod to restore damaged teeth in minutes with precision made, natural tooth-colored ceramic restorations, while eliminating the inconvenience of impressions, labs and second visits. Sirona Laser is a safe, effective and comfortable way to remove or reshape gum tissue without pain or bleeding and eliminates the need for stitches after surgery. Not only is it used to treat early stages of gum disease, but also limits the risk of infection. This aseptic technique also results in faster healing time. Oral Sedation also known as “sedation dentistry”, is a safe, simple and effective technique to relax the patient during the dental appointment by simply taking a pill that induces relaxation to the point of sleeping. Even though the patient is in a deeply relaxed state, they are not unconscious and can still respond when spoken to. Dental Services
Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry is not only about improving the appearance of a smile but also improving the function of the teeth correcting problems such as chewing, occlusion (bite) and joint dysfunction (TMJ). The advances in dentistry offer our clients a variety of options including non-invasive and pain-free techniques. When is Cosmetic Dentistry Needed? Regardless of the reason, porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers can address most cosmetic dental issues such as: Missing Teeth Worn Down Enamel Crooked, Crowded Or Uneven Teeth Old Silver (Amalgam) Fillings Cracked Or Chipped Teeth Aged or Dull Teeth Stained or Discolored Teeth Excessive or Uneven Gums Genetics Dark Buccal Corners (these are the dark, cavernous spaces seen in the back corners of the mouth when a person smiles)
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a false tooth which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill the area left by a missing tooth. Dental Bridges are vital in protecting not only the balance of your bite and chewing motion, but also the integrity of your facial features. A person who leaves missing teeth unattended may permanently alter the shape and contour of his/her face. Dental Bridges easily restore the balance of the mouth and typically look and feel as natural as your own teeth.
Dental Implants
Made from titanium posts, the implants attach directly to the jawbone and anchor a permanent artificial tooth. Due to the advancement in Implant Dentistry, dentists can now place implants with the same confidence and skills they’ve used in the past for crowns and bridges. Since healthy gums are essential for this procedure, implants are not recommended for those who suffer from chronic illness such as diabetes and smokers.
Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from shifting position. A denture not only improves speech and the ability to chew, but also provides support for the facial muscles thereby greatly enhancing the facial appearance and smile.
Gum Disease
The main cause of periodontal disease is bacterial plaque, a sticky, colorless film of bacteria that clings to teeth and gums. Even if you brush and floss every day, you may not completely remove plaque, especially around the gum line. The bacteria in plaque create toxins that break down and destroy the gums and bone that support the teeth. If left untreated, the periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss. The disease will cause the gums to separate from the teeth forming pockets (spaces between the teeth and gums) that become infected. As the disease progresses, the pockets deepen and more gum tissue and bone are destroyed. Signs of gum disease: Red, swollen or bleeding gums Gums that separate from the teeth Bad breath Loose teeth Change in the way the teeth fit together Causes of periodontal Disease: Smoking and Tobacco use Stress Genetics Medications Poor nutrition Diabetes Pregnancy and Puberty Clenching and Grinding teeth
Inlays & Onlays
The procedure is used to restore the chewing surfaces of back teeth. As the result of high precision, both inlays (fit within the grooves between the cusps of your tooth) and onlays (fit within the grooves and wrap up and over the cusp tips to cover more of the tooth’s surface) are designed to fit your tooth perfectly
Lasers In Dentistry
Soft tissue lasers utilize a wavelength that is highly absorbable by water and hemoglobin which makes them more effective for soft tissue management. Soft tissue lasers penetrate soft tissue while sealing blood vessels and nerve endings, resulting in virtually no postoperative pain. As the result, they offer less bleeding, reduced swelling and faster healing. Some of the applications of Laser Dentistry are: Removing Excess Gum Tissue and Oral Lesions Treatment of Gum Diseases Gum Surgery Grown Lengthening Cleansing Periodontal Pockets Hardening White Restorations
Porcelain Crowns
A crown is a restoration that covers a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size. Its purpose is to strengthen or improve the appearance of a tooth. They are usually used to: Protect weak or Restore fractured teeth Attach a bridge Cover dental implants
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain Veneers are thin shells of ceramic material that are bonded to the front surface of a tooth creating beautifully shaped, aligned and white teeth. The procedure is used to close the gaps between the teeth and restore / protect worn, chipped and uneven teeth. Porcelain Veneers are also used for whitening teeth that have permanent stains, or teeth that have darkened naturally with age. Porcelain veneers: Protect the tooth surface Improves functions such as chewing, TMJ and bite Esthetically pleasing and provide a youthful appearance
Root Canals
A procedure to save an infected tooth by treating it’s root. Signs of an infected tooth are heat and cold sensitivity, swelling and pain, or a bad taste in the mouth.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth will usually appear dull over time, as the result of exposure to coffee, tea, red wine, or smoking. Considered as one of the simplest procedures, teeth whitening will brighten and improve the appearance of your teeth. As veneers, crowns and white fillings will not whiten using any bleaching procedure, an overall aesthetic treatment plan should be created in advance to ensure a uniformly white and bright smile. The two most popular Teeth Whitening procedures are: Bleaching Trays – Used at home after you are fitted with a custom tray and provided with whitening gel by the dentist ZOOM 2! Advanced – In office whitening procedure
